American Airlines has suspended new LATAM codeshare bookings.
The suspension only blocks new sales but in the case of customers who wish to make changes to an existing itinerary involving a codeshare flight operated by LATAM, the airline will rebook them on an American Airlines flight that services that market.
American Airlines will still accept previously ticketed LATAM customers and LATAM will also continue to accept American Airlines customers.
There is no change to the shared frequent flyer agreement or reciprocal lounge access already in place. AAdvantage members will continue to earn miles on flights marketed by LATAM.
American Airlines also plans to wind down remaining agreements with LATAM over the next few months.
eTNW previously reported that LATAM had left the oneworld alliance after selling a 20% stake to Delta Air Lines. Read more here.
