TAP Air Portugal has appointed global representation company, Aviareps, as its GSA in South Africa, effective from May 1.
The South African office of Aviareps , headed up by Joyce Aleksic, GM Southern Africa, will provide the airline with promotion of its extensive route network, product, and services, including its three flights a week between Maputo and Lisbon, and its six flights a week between Luanda and Lisbon, connecting to its domestic, regional and international destinations.
Aleksic told Travel News that South Africa would, for the immediate future, remain an offline market for the carrier. “TAP has capacity constraints, but we hope that when it has overcome these, it will put South Africa back on its route-map.”
State-owned flag carrier TAP Air Portugal is headquartered in Lisbon. It is a Star Alliance member and operates flights to more than 85 destinations in 32 countries.
TAP has had a long-standing partnership with Aviareps since 2009 and Aviareps now represents TAP in 16 markets.
