THAILAND's Suvarnabhumi Airport has officially launched its Airport Link and check-in service from downtown Makkasan station. Although the airport rail link has been operational since August with discounted fares for travellers, check-in downtown has only recently become available.
A luggage check-in system at Makkasan city air terminal delivering luggage directly to the airport is now available for travellers. Passengers who want to check in and transport their luggage to the airport can do so three to 13 hours prior to boarding. However, only Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways and Lufthansa currently use the train check-in services.
Two lines operate on the new Airport Link – a City Line (30 minutes one-way) and an Express Line (15 minutes one-way).
Express Line users will be charged 150 baht for non-stop service from Makkasan terminal to the airport and city line users will be charged between 15 and 45 baht based on distance. The services will be available from 06h00 to midnight every day.
