Best Western International has announced the addition of three new hotels to its West African portfolio. With eight properties open and five additional hotels in the pipeline, the brand plans to have more than 1 300 rooms in the region.
The newest additions are the Best Western Plus Ajuji Hotel in Abuja, and the Best Western Starfire Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria, and the Best Western Plus Atlantic Hotel in the industrial and commercial hub of Takoradi, Ghana.
“We see West Africa as one of the global hotbeds for hotel development and these three exciting new properties are a major step forward in our efforts to expand throughout that region,” said Best Western’s vp of international operations, Suzi Yoder. “Best Western can offer developers a globally recognised brand and the flexibility of three unique hotel types – Best Western, Best Western Plus and Best Western Premier – which we believe gives us a leg-up when it comes to expanding into emerging African markets.”
The Best Western Plus Ajuji Hotel is the brand’s second Plus hotel in Nigeria and the first Best Western in the capital. The 104-room property is in the new Gudu District, with a direct link to the Central Business District, Abuja domestic airport and Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport. It features three conference venue halls and two meeting rooms.
The Best Western Starfire Hotel is in the heart of Lagos, adjacent to the city’s large shopping district. The property features 24 standard rooms, 14 superior rooms and two junior suites. The hotel is 100% non-smoking and has a 24-hour full-service restaurant. Breakfast, WiFi and car parking are complimentary for all guests. Other facilities include a fitness room, an outdoor pool and a gift shop.
The five-star Best Western Plus Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi features 200 guest rooms, an exclusive business wing, chalets, roof-top penthouses and suites, including Junior and Presidential suites. A wide selection of dining and beverage outlets offer options such as fine dining, a cocktail lounge, a pub, nightclub and a conference and banqueting hall that can accommodate up to 400 people. Other facilities include a business centre, gym, health club and spa, a two-level infinity pool and a gift shop.
