LOCAL website bidorbuy.
co.za reports that its
travel sales category has
shown strong growth recently
and has become a new focus
of its marketing efforts to
promote the website.
Johan du Toit, operations
manager for the web-based
company, reports that the
travel sales category on
bidorbuy has been in existence
for a number of years. “This
section was traditionally
populated by consumers
selling local timeshare or
holiday packages but recently
we have seen more and more
travel companies populating
the site.”
Bidorbuy boasts a product
range of more than R3 million
postings and attracts over 30
million site visitors per month.
Travel products are classified
according to the following
categories on the website:
accommodation in SA, car
hire, flights, game lodges and
safaris, holiday packages,
cruises, timeshare, weekend
getaways and other travel.
However, when TNW checked
the site, there were no
cruise offerings or packages
inclusive of flights advertised.
Products were limited to
accommodation and charter
flights.
Bidorbuy charges a
commission, calculated on a
sliding scale from 5% to 1%,
depending on the cost of the
sale.
