Boeing’s gross aircraft orders slumped by 80% to an all-time low in 2019, according to data compiled by Learnbonds.com.
The gross orders declined from 1 090 in 2018 to 246 in 2019.
According to the report, the decline was largely due to a slump in orders for the B737narrow-body. Orders for this went from 837 in 2018 to just 69 in 2019, a 91,7% drop. This was attributed to safety concerns around the B737 MAX, following the two well-documented fatal crashes.
According to the data, most clients shifted to Airbus amid the Boeing slump. Airbus saw a 26,5% increase in gross orders last year.
