Visa offices have issued statements confirming appointment rescheduling as centres close amid a planned national shutdown. Airlines are warning of potential delays at airports.
US Consulate reschedules appointments
The US Consulate in Johannesburg posted a notice outside its building announcing that all appointments scheduled for today have been rescheduled.
Consular management advises applicants to check their emails for information on new appointment dates and times, as well as additional instructions.
VFS reschedules appointments
VFS Global announced the temporary closure of its visa centres across South Africa.
"As a precautionary measure, all appointments scheduled for June 30 will be rescheduled. Affected applicants will be contacted with further details."
BLS visa centres closed today
BLS Visa Application Centres also announced that its offices in South Africa (Durban, Cape Town and Pretoria) will be closed today.
Applicants with appointments scheduled for today are permitted to submit their applications on a walk-in basis on July 1, 2 and 3.
Normal VAC operations are expected to resume on Wednesday, July 1.
CAPAGO closes JNB and CPT centres
CAPAGO posted a notice on its website stating that its visa centres in Johannesburg and Cape Town would be closed for the entire day, with appointments to be rescheduled. Applicants with appointments scheduled for June 30 will be contacted directly.
Its Gqeberha centre remains open, with appointments proceeding as scheduled.
SAA offers rebooking flexibility
South African Airways said all flights and airport operations remained on schedule.
"Appropriate contingency measures have been implemented to safeguard operational continuity while prioritising the safety of our customers and employees."
The airline advises travellers to allow extra time when travelling to and from airports and to monitor SAA's official communication channels for updates.
SAA is also offering one free flight change on SAA-operated flights. Tickets must be reissued by July 3, with travel completed by July 30.
Fare differences and applicable taxes will still apply, while rebooking fees will be waived. No-show passengers are not eligible for the waiver.
