Cairo plans new terminal

Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, Sameh El-Hefny, has announced a new Terminal 4 at Cairo International Airport, which is expected to open within the next four years.

In a television interview and reported by Ahram Online, El-Hefny said the project was estimated to cost $4,5 billion (R71,4 billion) with the new terminal expected to accommodate 30 to 40 million passengers.

Terminals 1, 2, and 3 combined currently handle 28 million passengers annually and once Terminal 4 is completed, the airport's overall capacity will reach 65 million passengers a year.
