Canada now recognises COVID-19 PCR tests conducted in South Africa for Canadian residents returning home, reversing a widely criticised third-country testing rule.
However, the policy change is only valid until January 7, 2022, for indirect flights from South Africa to Canada.
There is still no change to Canada's ban on travellers, other than returning nationals, from 10 African countries, including South Africa.
