Dubai has launched a mobile passport control service that allows immigration officers to process passengers where they are in the airport, rather than requiring them to queue at passport control counters.
The Click and Travel service is designed for use during peak periods and emergencies, allowing officers to move through airport terminals and complete entry or departure procedures using mobile devices.
The devices are connected to Dubai’s General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs’ systems and databases and use biometric verification to confirm passengers’ identities. Authorities say the process can be completed in 12 to 15 seconds.
For departing passengers, the service is available to visitors, UAE citizens and residents. On arrival, it will initially be available only to UAE citizens and residents, with plans to expand the service in line with operational requirements.
