EK charges for name change waivers

On October 24, Emirates began charging an admin fee of $20 (R284) when an agent requests a name change waiver.

A penalty fee is usually charged for a name change, except on bookings that allow the agent to apply for one name change waiver.

eTNW understands that the new admin fee covers the process of having Emirates consider an agent’s application for a name change waiver and also that the admin fee has been implemented as a result of the airline receiving an increasing number of name change waiver requests.

Emirates requires agents to issue the name change waiver as a ‘Miscellaneous EMD’, labelling it ‘Name Change Admin Fee’.
