Eurostar has asked its customers to reset their passwords following what they have identified as “an unauthorised automated attempt to access Eurostar accounts using clients email and passwords.”
The request follows an investigation launched by the railway operator which shows that certain accounts were logged into without authorisation between October 15 and 19. Users who do not recall accessing their accounts during this period may have fallen victim to this data breach.
Eurostar has assured its customers that credit card or payment details have not been compromised by this. “We deliberately never store any bank card information in customer accounts, so there is no possibility of compromise to credit card or payment details” Eurostar said.
Customers have been advised to be cautious of unusual activity on their accounts, and have also been urged to update their login details on other websites where they use the same password.
