Fastjet’s route to support multiple tourism sites

Fastjet has announced the introduction of flights from Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) in Nelspruit, from March 16, 2022.

The direct flights will initially operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays using an Embraer ERJ145 aircraft. From July the service will be increased to daily, linking the two popular tourist destinations.

The airline said the introduction of the Victoria Falls-Kruger Mpumalanga flights added value and flexibility to tourists’ travel plans as they explored the two iconic destinations.

A fastjet spokesperson told Travel News that tourism would always be a major consideration when developing its network.

“Our flights into Victoria Falls support visits to one of the world's seven natural wonders and to the Zambezi and Hwange National Parks in Zimbabwe, the Chobe National Park in Botswana and beyond. The addition of Nelspruit's Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport to our network will facilitate access to the Kruger National Park, the Sabi Sands, Timbavati, Manyeleti and Klaserie game reserves and the beautiful scenery of the northern Drakensberg mountains. In addition to this route, our Bulawayo services continue to support tourism in Matobo National Park and Khami Ruins.

“Future network development is anticipated, which will further expand our tourism exposure. With the lifting of the restrictions on travel to and from the UK, EU and Australia, we are starting to see a steady increase in demand across our route network. Forward bookings are encouraging and, with our ‘right-sized’ network operations, we will continue to develop and grow, offering the tourism sector choice, flexibility and value when it comes to flights in the region,” said the spokesperson.

KMIA will be the third destination that fastjet has connected to Victoria Falls with scheduled flights. The other two are Harare and Johannesburg.

Fares on the route include free baggage allowances and flexible changes.
