FlyBondi issues NFT tickets

10 May 2023
Comments | 0

Argentinian carrier FlyBondi has become the first airline to issue electronic tickets as non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

According to Globe Trender, the airline has partnered with NFT ticketing company TravelX to offer these tickets, allowing travellers to change the name on tickets, transfer, or even sell them.

According to TravelX, every ticket that has been sold by the airline since April this year has been tokenised and directly built into the infrastructure of Flybondi’s online platform.

The tickets can be bought through the airline’s website using regular currency. TravelX will then issue an NFT ticket, in addition to the original ticket. The two tickets are synchronised to carry matching data, meaning they hold the same seat number, fare rules, and itinerary. They can be renamed, resold, or transferred to another person up to 72 hours before departure.
