Strikes over the pension reform in France are due to affect travel again this week (March 20-23).

According to Simple Flying, the French Aviation Authority (DGAC) has asked airlines to reduce their flight schedules at certain airports for the latest round of strikes.

Air France posted a statement on its website saying that airlines had been asked to reduce their schedules at Paris Orly Airport and certain other French airports between Monday, March 20 and Thursday, March 23. The airline plans to operate 95% of its flight schedule on those days, including all long-haul flights and all flights to Paris-Charles De Gaulle Airport.

It did, however, note that there could be last-minute cancellations and delays and that travellers would be informed via email or SMS. The airline is also allowing travellers to reschedule their flights without fees and will compensate those whose flights have been cancelled.

Meanwhile, both Ryanair and easyJet have warned travellers to expect disruptions, according to Birmingham Live. EasyJet said travellers should check their flight status regularly and warned that public transport services in France may also be affected by the strikes, meaning travellers should allow extra time to get to the airport. Ryanair said affected travellers would be notified as soon as possible.

Unions have reportedly called for Thursday, March 24 to be the National Day of Action. While Paris transport network RATP and French railway traffic operator SNCF have said that trains, trams, and buses are expected to run as normal, unions said travellers should expect a ‘black (difficult) Thursday’, reports Connexion France.
