Great Wall limits numbers

From June 1, the number of daily visitors to the Badaling section of the Great Wall will be restricted and online ticket sales will be introduced, tourism authorities have reported.

Visitor numbers will be capped at 65 000 per day. Visitors, including individuals and group tours, will be able to purchase the admission ticket seven days in advance using a valid ID or passport. Tickets will be restricted to one per identity document.

Tickets for adults will cost 40 yuan (R85) in peak season and 35 yuan (R75) in low season; tickets for children between six and 18 years and for people over 60 years will cost 20 yuan (R43) in peak season and 17,5 yuan (R37) in low season. Tickets for children under six will be free. Peak season is from April 1 to October 31 and low season from November 1 to March 31.
