Heathrow late August strikes suspended

Strikes at Heathrow proposed for August 23 and 24 have been suspended. The airport advises passengers to check with their airline, in a statement released on its website.

Unite, Britain and Ireland’s largest union, said a ballot on a revised pay offer made by the airport to over 4 000 staff members, including security guards, engineers and passenger service operatives and drivers, is now under way, closing on September 2.

The strike has been suspended to allow for the ballot to take place.
