With the current wave of gender-based violence affecting South Africa, business people around South Africa may be looking for ways to reduce the social problems plaguing the country.
An organisation actively investing in creating better men for a better future is The Character Company, whose mission is to raise boys to be good men. They do this by providing a long-term mentorship programme to young boys who are growing up without dads or positive male role models.
Gauteng-based companies and individuals are invited to participate in the 100 km With Character Cycle Event starting at 08h00 on November 10 at Cradlestone Mall in Krugersdorp. Bikes will be provided by Planet Fitness. Team leaders need to commit to forming a team and taking a bike to do the equivalent of 100 km that day and raise R100 per km minimum. R10 000 per bike is the target.
“We are keen supporters of The Character Company,” says Anton Marsh, md of Now Media.
“The passion and action we have seen over the years as the organisation has taken shape is evident in the feedback often passed on to us from mothers who have children benefiting from the programmes and mentor interaction. It makes a real impact on the children. I would like to encourage other people to participate at the 100km with Character Cycle Event, you can be sure your participation will have a positive impact in growing better men,” Anton adds.
Anton will lead one of the day’s teams to raise money - to support this cause with a donation and team Now Media click here.
