After nearly 18 months, Nepal, home to Mount Everest – a destination on any true adventure traveller’s bucket list – has finally reopened to fully vaccinated travellers, without quarantine on arrival.
If arrivals are fully vaccinated upon arrival in Nepal (they received their final dose 14 days prior), they are eligible for a visa on arrival, a process that was paused in March 2020.
However, unvaccinated travellers will need to obtain visas from Nepalese embassies in their home countries before departure. They will also need to wait out a 10-day quarantine in a government-approved hotel in Kathmandu and conduct a PCR test on day 10.
When Mount Everest finally reopened to travellers in April, hundreds flocked to climb the summit, leading to an overcrowding issue that has since been addressed.
