Hong Kong International Airport opened its Terminal 2 for passenger departures on May 27. It is expected to handle around eight million passengers in its first 12 months of operation.
Spanning 300 000 sqm, the new terminal offers more than 170 check-in counters across eight aisles. It also features self-service facilities in aisles R, S, T and U, where passengers can make use of self-check-in and express bag-drop services. The terminal offers a seamless connection to Terminal 1.
A total of 15 airlines are to relocate their check-in counters from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2, with the final phase of the move scheduled for June 10. The relocation includes AirAsia, IndiGo and Bangkok Airways, among others.
