Hong Kong Airport introduces stopover tours

Hong Kong International Airport has introduced new layover tours that will offer waiting passengers the chance to explore the city’s cultural landmarks.

Eligible passengers must have a stopover of more than seven hours between their flights and must meet Hong Kong’s entry requirements. South African passport holders do not require a visa for stays in Hong Kong of up to 30 days.

Passengers can pre-book their tour up to three months before the intended tour date, or book their tour at the Free Layover Tour Service Counter in the airport upon arrival. However, each tour has limited number of seats which are subject to availability.

The programme currently offers two different itineraries.

The Heritage and Local Lifestyle Citywalk, from 12h00 until 16h00, offers travellers the chance to visit Wong Tai Sin Temple and explore Sham Shui Po’s market. The Victoria & West Kowloon Waterfront Journey, from 17h30 until 21h30, allows passengers to wander through the West Kowloon Cultural District and the Avenue of Stars in Victoria Harbour, which features handprints of Hong Kong’s cinema legends.
