Hurtigruten’s promise on Northern Lights

30 Jan 2023

For agents whose clients have their hearts set on seeing the Northern Lights, Hurtigruten has made a promise it says no one can match.

It’s a simple promise - if they don’t see the Aurora Borealis on board one of its Norway itineraries, they get another cruise at the same location, free of charge.

The offer only applies to all new bookings of voyages of 11 days or more along the Norwegian coast aboard The Original Coastal Express, The North Cape Express, and selected Hurtigruten Expeditions cruises departing between September 26, 2023 and March 31, 2024 (the auroral season).

All cabins and suites on the ships have a Northern Lights alert, which tells cruisers whenever someone spots the Aurora Borealis, so they don’t miss a sighting. These day-or-night announcements can be turned on and off in each cabin or suite.

If the Northern Lights do not occur within sight of the ship during the voyage, all passengers are entitled to a six-day southbound or seven-day northbound Original Coastal Express Classic Voyage as compensation.

This offer must be claimed and booked within 28 days from the return date of the original cruise, with a choice of departure dates between October 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025. It excludes flights, transfers, all onboard expenses, excursions and luggage handling and it does not apply to rescheduled or cancelled cruises. Bookings are non-transferable, non-changeable, and have no cash value.
