InterContinental debuts in Maldives

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened the InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort, the first in the region.

Situated in the Raa Atoll near Baa Atoll, 185km from Malé International Airport, the resort has 81 beach, lagoon and overwater villas and residences, and guests have access to Club InterContinental’s services and amenities throughout the entire island.

The two-storey lagoon villas offer private infinity and Jacuzzi pools, the overwater villas offer outdoor decks and the beach villas provide direct beach access. There are four two- and three-bedroom residences, with the largest offering 790sqm of space.

The resort features a spa that offers six treatment villas, steam rooms, ice fountains, a yoga pavilion and a fitness centre. Treatments include acupuncture, cupping therapy, dietary plans and herbal medicine.

There are six restaurants and bars at the resort, which include Japanese cuisine and seafood.

Beach pool villas at the resort start from US$1 250 (R19 000) per night.
