Israel removes arrival tests

11 May 2022
Comments | 0

The Health Ministry of Israel said on Sunday (May 8) that it was ending mandatory COVID testing for arrivals at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport as of May 20.

Travellers will still have to test negative prior to departure to Israel, but as of May 10, can opt to take a rapid antigen test within the 24 hours before travel, rather than a PCR test within 72 hours prior to departure.

The government has been under public pressure to end the airport testing, which has added to passengers' travel costs and caused long lines and long waits, according to Reuters.
