KLM increases India services

KLM will expand its Indian network to include Bangalore, with a thrice-weekly service from Amsterdam from the end of October. This comes at the expense of its Colombo, Sri Lanka, service.

KLM already serves Delhi and Mumbai, and a statement from the airline says the Bangalore service follows the suspension of Jet Airways flights to the country. “Until recently, KLM co-operated intensively with its partner Jet Airways on routes to and from India. Unfortunately, Jet Airways had to suspend all its flights for an indefinite period with effect from April 2019. Consequently, KLM decided to raise capacity to India in order to offer our customers alternatives, while continuing to cater to market demand,” the statement says.

In order to make Bangalore services available, the statement says that KLM will provisionally suspend its direct connection to Colombo, Sri Lanka, also from the end of October. Passengers with tickets between Amsterdam and Colombo departing on or after October 28 will either be rebooked on the most suitable alternative flights, or compensated financially.

From October 28, KLM will operate flights between Schiphol and Bangalore on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The aircraft has 30 seats in World Business Class, 45 in Economy Comfort, and 219 in Economy.

Flight KL0879 will depart Schiphol at 11h05, arriving at Bangalore Kempegowda International Airport at 00h50 the next morning. Flight KL0880 will depart Bangalore at 02h45, arriving at Schiphol at 08h25.
