Last week, Kenya Airways operated its first verified low-carbon flight from Nairobi to Cape Town powered by 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
This development aligns with international standards set by IATA and the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).
According to Kenya Airways, the SAF is derived from waste-based feedstocks such as used cooking oil and delivers up to 85% lower greenhouse gas emissions, demonstrating the airline’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions.
