LAM plots international routes

LAM Mozambique Airlines plans to resume international flights to Portugal, Brazil and India, the Presidency said in a statement.

At an event in Porto earlier this week, Mozambique President Daniel Chapo, said that due to ongoing reforms at the airline, LAM would resume flights from Mozambique to Portugal, as well as Brazil and India. “The resumption of flights to Portugal is already up its sleeve and this resumption will contribute to stabilising ticket prices,” he said.

Chapo added that once LAM had stabilised at a national level, the airline would return to Johannesburg, Harare and other regional capitals, Club of Mozambique reported.

Earlier this year, LAM suspended several international routes as part of a business restructuring plan. However, the airline has since been on an upward trajectory, posting a strong revenue between May and August and receiving a US$130 million (R2,2 billion) investment.
