Mozambique Airlines (LAM) is planning to resume its Maputo-Lisbon service during the first half of November.
Final negotiations between LAM and Portuguese airline EuroAtlantic Airways are currently under way to lease EuroAtlantic Airways’ 279-seat Boeing 767, and the use of its permanent parking facilities at Lisbon Airport, reports clubofmozambique.com.
LAM is currently under the management of Fly Modern Ark, a South African company contracted by the Mozambiquan government to conduct a business rescue on the airline. A representative of Fly Modern Ark told clubofmozambique.com: “We returned from Lisbon this week, and we are finalising this process (the return of Maputo-Lisbon flights). We have already identified a partner with a good aircraft and, by mid-November, we will start the route.”
LAM has had to obtain a new licence to fly to Portugal, as its previous licence had expired.
