Lufthansa plans R1,4bn onboard upgrade

To mark its 100th anniversary next year, Lufthansa is planning to redesign the onboard experience.

CEO of Lufthansa, Jens Ritter, said the airline was investing over €70 million (R1,42 billion) in the new Future Onboard Experience (FOX) within the next 12 months. A focus will be revising service elements and processes on board on long-haul flights across all cabins.

“This is particularly evident in business class. With FOX, guests will be able to choose their second meal flexibly in future, exactly when it suits them. This concept offers a varied selection of savoury and sweet dishes, snacks and hot meals.”

He said Lufthansa would also introduce upgraded textiles and completely new tableware in all four classes.

The launch of FOX is planned for the Northern hemisphere spring next year.
