Major carriers halt Middle East flights

Multiple airlines across Europe and North America have suspended flights to the Middle East due to rising geopolitical tensions in the region.

KLM

KLM announced its halting of services to Dubai, Riyadh, Dammam and Tel Aviv. The airline said it would not rebook flights for January 24 or 25.

“Passengers will be rebooked as soon as possible. Passengers who choose not to travel can request a voucher or a full refund. We continue to monitor the situation,” said the statement.

According to data from FlightRadar24, KLM’s flights that were set to arrive in Tel Aviv on the morning of January 26 were also cancelled.

Lufthansa

Lufthansa Group announced it was adjusting flights to and from the Middle East.

All flights to and from Tel Aviv and Amman are being operated exclusively as day flights until January 31, to prevent crew from staying overnight. Some flights may also be cancelled, the group warned.

Austrian Airlines flights to and from Tehran are suspended up to and including March 28.

US carriers

Both United Airlines and Delta Air Lines cancelled several services to Tel Aviv over the weekend, from January 24 to 25.

However, according to data from FlightRadar24, flights that were due to arrive in Tel Aviv on the morning of January 26 were also cancelled.

United cancelled flights between Newark and Tel Aviv, citing the extreme snow storms the country is experiencing, but it also stated that it was monitoring the security situation in the Middle East.
