Ongoing conflict in the Middle East has forced Formula 1 to relocate the Bahrain Grand Prix from its traditional home at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir to Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit in Selangor.
Formula 1, the FIA, and the governments of Bahrain and Malaysia reached an agreement for Sepang to host the event, ensuring the 2026 race calendar remains intact.
The race, which will take place from October 2-4, will be officially titled the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
"We are delighted to confirm that Malaysia will host the Bahrain Grand Prix in 2026. Once again, the sport has demonstrated its ability to adapt, find solutions and deliver, creating an exciting moment for everyone who follows Formula 1,” said Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1.
Malaysia last hosted a Formula 1 race in 2017.
