Malaysia will impose an airport departure tax from September 1.
The levy starts at MYR8 (R28) for passengers in economy class travelling within the ASEA bloc and MYR50 (R179) in premium classes.
For destinations beyond Southeast Asia, the fee is MYR20 (R71) in economy class and MYR150 (R538) in premium classes.
Exemptions are made for flight crew, transit passengers who do not exceed 12 hours, and children under two years old.
