Mango offers discounted Wi-Fi for August

This week Mango added a new generation Boeing 737-800 to its fleet, added more flights to its schedule and marked the final phase of the G-Connect In-flight Wi-Fi beta period. Five out of six Mango aircraft are now equipped with Wi-Fi and the sixth will be online by the end of September.

To celebrate the final phase of the on-board Wi-Fi beta testing, the airline has announced a 50% discount for Wi-Fi on flights between Johannesburg and Cape Town. Wi-Fi passes normally cost R50 for one way, R90 for one day and one month is R250. In addition during August, social media functionality on Facebook and Twitter will be free and the only service incurring a cost will be video uploads.

Nico Bezuidenhout, Mango ceo, said: “Approximately 8% of all guests on enabled aircraft are online in flight at this time. This is in line with global usage benchmarks. Discounting usage as we approach the end of the beta phase as well as opening up social media at no cost should drive increased adoption of the service.”

Fares between Johannesburg and Cape Town will be available for R699, one way and including taxes.
