Maputo debuts $130 million accommodation offering

Mozambican President, Filipe Nyusi, inaugurated the tourist and commercial complex JAT Centre in Maputo on Wednesday, September 20.

The $130 million (R1.8bn) project consists of the four-star, 172-room Meliá Maputo Sky Hotel, 84 apartments, a supermarket, 156 shops, a gym, offices, and a car park with a capacity to hold 1 800 vehicles.

The hotel, located 20 minutes from Maputo International Airport,  features LCD television, complimentary WiFi, telephone, air-conditioning, minibar, safe, work area and either one double bed or two twin beds in all of its guestrooms. 

The hotel restaurant offers local and international cuisine and there is a Sky Bar and a lounge area.

Facilities include complimentary WiFi throughout, a spacious reception area, coffee shop, room service, laundry service, indoor and outdoor parking, meeting rooms, and currency exchange services.

It also has two meeting rooms and a large auditorium that can hold up to 150 delegates, all of which are fully equipped with the latest sound and image technologies.
