Flight Centre has announced the appointment of its new Global Managing Director –  Andrew Stark.

“Given the significance of the brand, its size, its new multi-channel models, and the global approach we are now taking, it was vital to have a dedicated and experienced leader to drive this strategy globally. Andrew will commence as Global Managing Director and relocate to Australia in the new year to take on this exciting challenge,” said Mel Waters-Ryan, COO of the Flight Centre Group.

Stark has been with FCTG for over 17 years and has worked in both South Africa and New Zealand during that time. Over the last six years he has been the MD South Africa, with the MEA responsibility added four years ago. Waters-Ryan said he drove both country and region to fabulous results and then led it through the last difficult period.

“Stark is a champion of the customer, a true example of our amazing culture and people obsession and a great leader. His passion and optimism and genuine excitement will blend with those attributes, and I know help drive Flight Centre forward,” said Waters-Ryan.

Stark’s successor is still unknown.

Travel News will conduct a video webcast interview with Stark soon.
