Monday Smile: Meet Dolly, Royal Caribbean’s newest crew member

Royal Caribbean has welcomed Dolly as its newest ‘Chief Dog Officer’. The Golden Retriever will join Hero of the Seas when the ship enters service in 2027.

Dolly’s name was selected following a passenger vote on Facebook, with Royal Caribbean CEO Michael Bayley inviting guests to choose from a shortlist of names.

Dolly will become the latest Golden Retriever to join Royal Caribbean’s Icon-class ships, following Rover, who joined Icon of the Seas in 2023, Sailor on Star of the Seas, and Skipper on Legend of the Seas.

The Chief Dog Officer programme is conducted in partnership with the American Humane Society, with the dogs accompanied by dedicated handlers on board.

Hero of the Seas is scheduled to enter service in August 2027, sailing seven-night Western and Eastern Caribbean itineraries from Miami.
