Qatar Airways will become a full member of global airline alliance oneworld from October 30, offering additional benefits and services to those travelling on the airline.

The first Middle East carrier to enter a global airline alliance, Qatar Airways will now allow the three million members of its Privilege Club loyalty programme to participate in frequent flyer privileges when they fly with any oneworld member airline. For the South African market, this includes British Airways, American Airlines, Iberia, LAN Airlines and Qantas. These privileges include earning and redeeming Qmiles for awards and earning Qpoints for tier status.

Privilege Club Planitum card holders with Qatar will have Emerald status in the oneworld programme and Privilege Club Gold will be equivalent to oneworld Sapphire while Privilege Club Silver will be oneworld Ruby.

Privilege Club Platinum and Gold members will also be able to access 550 airport lounges worldwide offered by oneworld member airlines when they fly with one of the alliance’s carriers while Qatar Airways’ First and Business Class passengers will also be able to use oneworld partner airline lounges.

From October 30, members of the oneworld airlines’ frequent flyer programme will be able to earn and redeem awards and tier status points and receive all other oneworld benefits on Qatar Airways. For example, Qatar and British Airways have announced a partnership between the airline’s frequent flyer programmes. Qatar Airways Privilege Club members and British Airways Executive Club member can now earn miles and begin redeeming miles on each other’s flights from October 1.

Qatar Airways brings more than 20 destinations and five countries to the oneworld network.
