MUC to open new terminal

Munich Airport (MUC) has announced plans to unveil its new airport terminal on April 13. It will welcome passengers from April 21.

Terminal 1 Pier, which covers 95 000sqm, will have capacity for up to six million passengers per year and can handle either 12 short- and medium-haul aircraft or six wide-body aircraft.

Jost Lammers, CEO of MUC, said in a media statement, “The pier not only strengthens our capacities, but also sets new standards in quality, efficiency, and passenger comfort – especially for non-Schengen traffic. The pier is a central element of our long-term infrastructure strategy.”

Security check-points will include state-of-the-art CT technology, comfortable waiting areas, retail and dining spaces, and recreation zones.

The terminal will also offer two airport lounges. The double-storey 1 200sqm Airport Lounge World has views of the Alps, a range of culinary options, children’s play area, bar, as well as workspaces and resting spaces. The second lounge is a 900sqm space operated by Emirates.
