Cambodia’s new airport, Techo International Airport, will open on September 9. It will eventually replace Phnom Penh International Airport.

The airport is being developed in three phases by Cambodia Airport Investment Co. and will be operated by Cambodia Airports, a subsidiary of VINCI Airports.

By the end of phase one in September, the airport will be able to handle 13 million passengers annually. Phase two will accommodate 30 million passengers, rising to 50 million passengers in phase three.

The airport features three runways and a terminal with 20 boarding gates and 32 air bridges.

According to Aeroroutes, multiple airlines have already applied to operate direct routes to and from the airport. This includes Cathay Pacific, which has received approval to operate twice-daily flights between Techo International and Hong Kong.
