New dining destination launched in Kruger

Kruger Shalati has unveiled its new Trackside Dining venue – a space inspired by the heritage of rail travel and built using reclaimed railway materials alongside natural elements like leadwood trees and corrugated iron.

Located alongside the historic train on the Selati Bridge, the new dining area was three years in the making.

Trackside Dining features Kruger Kitchen, a culinary concept led by Head Chef Vusi Mbatha. The menu draws from South African traditions and local ingredients with a focus on seasonal, forage-to-fork dishes, such as a spinach dish made with wild greens known locally as “thyeke”.

The venue will host daily meals, private dining, small events and evening gatherings around fire pits. It will also serve as a platform for cultural experiences such as storytelling, stargazing and live performances.

Sustainability remains central to the project with many ingredients sourced from nearby farms, including produce grown by staff members’ families.
