As from October 25, South Africans are required to provide their biometrics (fingerprints and facial photograph) as part of their visa application for Nigeria.
Biometric enrolment requires an applicant to visit, in person, the Nigerian Consulate in Johannesburg.
The consulate also announced on Thursday (October 19) that it had suspended issuing visas until further notice as it had run out of stickers. It said the reason for running out was due to a backlog of issuing visas.
