Industry maverick and founder of kulula.com, Gidon Novick, is moving forward with his plans to launch his new domestic airline during 2020, and has established a joint venture partnership with Global Aviation.
Gidon first spoke to Travel News in June about his plans to start a new domestic airline before the end of the year. He later revealed that he was eyeing Johannesburg - Cape Town as the airline’s first route.
For this venture Gidon is partnering with Global Aviation - a full service aircraft leasing company and licensed domestic airline that has been operating for almost 20 years. The airline is targeting a cost base 30% lower than existing operators, and says it will utilise an Airbus A320 fleet.
“2020 has been a year of struggle. It will hopefully also be remembered as a year of new beginnings,” said Gidon.
