Obituary

THE Travel Corporation
is mourning the loss of
one of its great managing
directors, Gawie Roussouw.
Gawie spent 22 years
with the company as
md of its flagship brand,
Trafalgar. During his time
with the company he was
responsible for growing
the Trafalgar business in
the South African travel
industry and is remembered
by his colleagues with
much fondness.
Stanley Tollman,
chairman of The Travel
Corporation, gave Gawie
the nickname ‘The Silver
Fox’, having always had
the highest regard for him.
“Anything he committed
to doing or when he said
something – you could
take it to the bank. He
beat every budget he ever
presented to us,” says
Stanley.
Theresa Szejwallo, current
md, worked with Gawie for
many years. “He was a
true gentleman and highly
respected throughout the
travel industry,” she says.
Gawie was laid to rest on
Friday, August 8.
