OTA introduces ‘experiences’

NEW Cape Town-based OTA,

Travelcheck, has launched

a new booking platform

on its website that allows

travellers to instantly book

a range of experiences in

addition to flights, hotel,

car and travel packages.

The new range consists

of local and international

experiences priced in

rands, with events ranging

to full-day activities.

Offerings vary from Spanish

La Liga football match

bookings to walking tours

in Rome and kayaking trips

in Cape Town. Up to 15

people can be included

in a single booking.

Travelcheck has partnered

with Johannesburg-based

aggregator Getlocal Africa

for this offering.

Ceo, James Elstob, says

the experiences are offered

through a white label portal

depicting live availability

of tours. Clients can

book, confirm and pay for

bookings online.

The next phase of the

development will see

experiences integrated in

Travelcheck’s front page

search and the ability for

clients to bundle these with

travel in a single booking

flow.

“We want to make the

entire trip planning process

easier. Adding experiences

is a natural evolution of

this,” says Travelcheck ceo,

Odette Faling.

Head of marketing,

Danica Helfrich, says

Travelcheck has already

seen an interest in the

new product with Cape

Town, the Winelands,

Thailand and the Indian

Ocean islands the most

requested destinations for

experiences so far.
