Pattaya to track tourists with drones

Pattaya, a coastal city in Thailand known for its nightlife, plans to deploy AI-powered drones to crack down on tourists that overstay their visa, while also combating crime amid rising safety concerns.

Authorities plan to link the drones to a centralised AI database capable of scanning faces in crowds to identify individuals with outstanding arrest warrants or expired visas, according to South China Morning Post.

The drones will be used mainly during large-scale events and in tourist hotspots to monitor activities and respond to suspicious behaviour in real time.
