The French government is exploring ways to make
it easier for South Africans to apply for visas to visit
France, says French Consul in South Africa, Raymond
Quereilhac. He was speaking at the Bastille Day
celebrations earlier this month. Raymond said the
government was considering long-stay visas and ways
to shorten processing times. Bastille Day is a national
holiday in France that commemorates the beginning
of the French Revolution with the Storming of the
Bastille on July 14 1789. This year, the special event
was dedicated to France’s best kept secret, Réunion
Island, an ideal destination for sporty holiday-goers or
active honeymooners and a visa-free destination for
