Popular game lodge refutes allegations of uncertain future

Mabula Game Lodge in Limpopo’s Waterberg is disputing reports that the property’s fate hangs in the balance amidst the legal battles of its alleged owner.

In his editor’s note for BizNews, Alec Hogg claimed that Mabula was “on the block”. He stated that the game reserve had been bought by Indian billionaire, Vijay Mallya for R100m who he claimed has been accused of fraud and money laundering by a dozen Indian banks.

Hogg went on to state: “Unfortunately, Mabula is sure to be caught in the crossfire.”

In response, Mabula Game Lodge stated that the facts had been incorrectly reported. “There is no ownership as mentioned in this article. It is business as usual and all bookings that are in place are secure.”

In contrast with the report, the game lodge said it had gone to “extraordinary lengths” to create an upmarket bush and conservation-focused experience for guests. “Many of the facilities have been upgraded over the past couple of years and the lodge now showcases elegant revamped rooms, a new main lodge deck, and upgraded boma dining area and curio shop to name a few.”
