Princess Cruises cancelled its February 12 Diamond Princess cruise, set to depart from Yokohama, after 10 guests on board tested positive for coronavirus.
The ship was put under quarantine on February 4 and will remain in Yokohama for at least 14 days as required by the Ministry of Health.
The cruise line already conducts pre-boarding medical evaluations and requires health reporting from all guests but due to the rapid spread of the virus, guests may be required to undergo additional health screening measures by local health officials before they disembark at any of the ports visited. Entry requirements are subject to change.
Princess Cruises also amended the following voyages:
Voyage H013 will now arrive in Tokyo, Japan (Yokohama) instead of Shanghai on May 2
Voyage H014 will now depart from Tokyo, Japan (Yokohama) instead of Shanghai on May 2
Voyage H015 will now arrive in Tokyo, Japan (Yokohama) instead of Shanghai on June 3
It will also cancel the June 3 and June 11 voyages sailing roundtrip to Shanghai on Sapphire Princess. The decision to remove the transit calls to Shanghai on May 1 and July 17 on Sun Princess is currently under review. Princess Cruises may replace these with Japan ports of call and will announce the actual ports in the near future.
