RwandAir plans to expand its fleet from 14 to at least 21 aircraft by 2029 by acquiring new aircraft such A330s for long-haul routes, B737-800s for regional and mid-haul routes, and Bombardier Q400s for domestic routes.
The expansion forms part of the airline’s goals of more than doubling passenger numbers to more than 2,1 million by 2028/29.
In an interview with The New Times, Fouad Caunhye, RwandAir’s Chief Commercial Officer, outlined the roadmap to achieving 2029 targets through new aircraft, expanded routes, and strategic partnerships.
On August 27, RwandAir announced the delivery of two Boeing 737-800s, one of which was already in operation. Newly serviced aircraft are also returning to operations and another aircraft is expected in the fourth quarter of this year.
