Passengers who are onboard for the full 9-month World Cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas, which set sail on its 274-night World Cruise in December 2023, have been asked to choose an alternative itinerary due to the tensions in the Middle East.

Sections of the original itinerary that will be impacted are the 18-night Ultimate Jordan, Egypt and Israel segment, as well as the journey that would pass Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Greece and Italy.

The Serenade of the Seas hosted a meeting in the ship’s Tropical Theatre and explained the situation to the passengers, offering them two alternative itineraries to vote on, on departure from Dubai.

The first alternative itinerary, Immersive Africa, features calls at 20 ports in 11 African countries such as Madagascar, Namibia, Ghana and South Africa.

The second option is an Africa and Greece itinerary that sails around the African continent and explores the Greek Islands. The itinerary includes calls at the Port of Victoria in Seychelles, Cape Town, Tenerife, and an overnight stay in Alexandria.

The result of the vote is expected on February 27.
